Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II passed away peacefully at Balmoral Castle in the afternoon of Thursday, 8th September 2022. Her passing is a great saddness not only to the British royal family, but also to the whole of United Kingdom and many around the world.
Her Majesty ascended the throne after the death of her father, King George I and reigned for 70 years, overseeing 15 British Prime Ministers and lived though many major world events including World War II. She dedicated her life and service to her beloved nation and to the British people. Being the most travelled monarch, she was also admired by many around the world.
While Her Majesty's loss may be a shock to many, it is worth remembering that Her Majesty had lived a full life. She raised a family together with her late husband Prince Philip, and lived to see her children grow and her grandchildren blossom. Yes, she may have some annus horribilis throughout her life such as various scandals involving several members of the royal family and the fire at Windsor Castle, but she also had many annus mirabilis. She also passed away peacefully of old age at her favourite retreat, Balmoral Castle.
Love her or loathe her, there is no denying that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was a dedicated monarch with a high sense of dedication towards her country and her people. Her sense of duty was unmatched. She was a tour de force, a perfect epitome of the phrase "Keep Calm and Carry On". We all could learn from her strength and dedication, and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, it will definetely not be the same without her.
Requiescat in pace.
